How Many People Know?

By Josiah Wygant

Romans 1:16

For I am not ashamed of the gospel: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Are you not ashamed of the gospel?

Think about that question because saying and doing are very different things... People say they love Jesus but their actions say otherwise..

Are you more worried what other people think, more than what God thinks.? How many people truly know that you are a Christian.?

When you go to your school or your job, can anybody tell by your actions that you believe in God or can they not tell the difference between what you believe and how you act?

You may be the only example of Christ they have and if they can't tell the difference between your walk and their walk, then they are not going to walk with God.

Do the people even know that the God of your life is in your life?

When somebody who doesn't believe in God loses somebody in their family or gets sick or something, do they think to go to you for prayer because they don't know where else to go??

And when did Jesus become our personal secret for no one else to know?

Are you serious?

Jesus didn't get stretched out on the cross so you could keep Him a secret!!

A lot of Christians are too worried about other people's opinions when we know we should only care for God's opinion.

I don't even know what's worse, nobody knowing I am a Christian or the only people knowing that I am a Christian are the people in my church.

But what we have to understand is people sacrifice their lives to spread the love of Jesus throughout the earth.

What if Jesus was less concerned about spreading the gospel and cared more about what other people said?

But no, He stood for what was right, just so everybody in the world could know that

(God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever

believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

John 3:16)

We can't just say "oh that's the pastor's job to tell people about Christ tho."

No that's completely wrong

In Mark it says go preach the gospel..

(Mark 16:15

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.)

Jesus told this to the disciples, and keep in mind that the disciples were ordinary people, they weren't preachers or some famous people, they were normal people, just like you and me.

We have to go tell people about Jesus instead of keeping Him a secret.. When was the last time you told someone about Jesus Christ? Stop being scared what people think and start telling people about Jesus.. And start acting like Jesus instead of acting like the rest of the world.

Does anybody know that you are a Christian by your actions or does everybody think that you are a Christian because of you're acting?

We need to stop treating our walk with God like we are expecting full-time benefits when He's our part-time job.

We have to understand that working for God isn't a part-time thing, it's not a job or a career, it's a lifestyle that you live.

Are you letting His light shine through in your life?

(Matthew 5:16

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.)

How many more times are you going to deny Jesus before Jesus denies you?????

(Matthew 10:33

But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in heaven.)

I encourage you right now to go tell someone about this amazing God.

Do not be ashamed of Him...

Questions:

How many people truly know that you are a Christian?

Have you ever denied Jesus?

Are you more worried about people's opinion or God's opinion?

When was the last time you told someone about Jesus..?

From or For?

Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

As a teenager, I remember asking myself a certain question over and over. “What does God want from me? Whats His will?”

Have you asked this too? For me, pleasing God was everything, so I was willing to do anything He commanded. Oh, but if only God would speak up! Give me my orders! Then life would be good. Or so I thought….

“Let there be..”

Not very demanding words, are they? I mean, here is God, all powerful, and yet He sets the universe into motion by gracing it with the permission to be.

Freedom.

He doesn’t bark, “I demand light now!” He says, “Let there be..” The Scriptures later reveal that God is Light, and He is love. So know this —— Love moves in freedom, not demand, coercion or force. And Love has always been this way, and always will be. Alpha and Omega. Beginning to the end.

So maybe the question we ought to be asking isn’t, “What does God want FROM me?” as if He’s some taskmaster, or always after your favorite toy, simply to test your loyalty.

Maybe the question we ought to be asking is, “What does God want FOR me?” because He is the author and giver of good things.

In other words: Next time you’re lost, wandering and wondering what to do... trace back to the God who began it all.

Is this thing you’re holding onto or about to bring into your life, your relationships, your heart and mind...is it what He wants FOR you?

If it isn’t, I promise it will be darkness.

But if it is, it will be glorious light.

So your prayer life stinks...

So your prayer life stinks, here are my favorite quotes to give you a different perspective on prayer. Read them, and let them inspire you to speak with God today!

God shapes the world by prayer. The more praying there is in the world the better the world will be, the mightier the forces against evil… ~ E.M.Bounds

-- If your really want to change the world around you, you will find time to pray. -- God is constantly shaping the earth, your prayers give you a say on how He shapes it. -- Often times when you pray to shape the world those prayers will often shape you..

Work as if you were to live a hundred years, pray as if you were to die tomorrow. ~ Benjamin Franklin

-- Hard work and no prayer, are just as useless as a lot of prayer and no hard work, both ineffective. -- Prayer is you asking God to do his part but you still have to do yours. -- Our prayers today effect more than just our tomorrow they effect our eternity.

        In the beginning God created…

Origin.

That’s “0:00” on the playback counter.

You can’t scroll the clip back any further from there.

You probably began this journey feeling like it started with you. Don’t worry. It’s just what it is to wake up to reality as a human and sort out the big question, “Where did I come from?”

And because we can’t scroll back our individual story any further than the first moment we opened our eyes and our brains started recording, we can often get the false idea that it all began with us. Hear me — the story didn’t start with us. We entered it, already unfolding. The beginning of our story is this story.

The beginning of your story is everyone’s story. Everything you see, hear, touch, taste, smell and know... it all began in God.

Maybe you’ve heard someone say, “You don’t know me, where I come from..”

While there can be a truth in that, there is a much deeper Truth than that.

The deeper truth is: no matter how unlike we feel from each other, we all began together. Our playback reel goes way, way back to the same “0:00”. Origin.

Even in the debate between ourselves of how far back that counter goes… Is it 6,000 years? Is it 10,000 years? Is it 10,000,000,000 years? Even that can’t divide us from this Truth: we all started together.

So, let that generate in you a common bond, a love, that says, “This person..however difficult they can be.. we go way back.”

Michigan Youth Convention

This weekend Pastor Peter and Joanna, along with some awesome youth leaders, took 26 of our students to our Assembly of God Youth Convention at Mount Hope Church in Lansing MI. It was a powerful time, and many of our students were touched by God this weekend! Here are some of the testimonies of how God moved in the lives of some of our students.

Jocelyn Case (Junior at Athens High School)

I really felt the Lord telling me to take a step back from planning my future and to let Him take control. Always having a back up plan and not fully trusting God for my next steps is not what He's looking for. I need to step out onto the water and look to Him for what to do and where I should go next.

Marcus Amaro (Freshman at Lakeview High School)

God gave me answers to questions that I have been asking for a while. He also refocused my vision on what I need to accomplish and how I am to think everyday as I enter school.

Zander Hommerding (Senior at Lakeview High School )

At youth convention I really just came with an open mind, not knowing what God was really going to say. I really felt him over the course of the two services opening my eyes to those around me, and seeing how they react to the services, I've really felt Him calling me to a point of leadership and this has definitely helped me grow.

Emma Moore (Senior at Harper Creek High School)

This weekend made me fully surrender my life to be used by Him. To use what I am, what I can do, and what I want to be, and use it for a purpose greater than myself and all that I can imagine.

Noelle Fuller ( Junior at Athens High School)

I really love youth convention because there's nothing more powerful than being in a room with thousands of other believers from Michigan, experiencing God's presence, and seeing His power in that way. Seeing hundreds of teenagers my age giving their lives to Jesus Christ is one of the most amazing things I think you can witness.

Jesus Us and Culture

Mark 9:14-29

Christ presence is loaded with purpose

--His presence brings peace. --What was once crazy becomes calm. --What was once jacked up becomes joyful. -- Inviting the presence of God into our life will always produce peace.

Insight Over Answers

-- Whenever Jesus ask a question he's not asking because he doesn't have an answer, he's asking because he wants to give insight to those around him

God Desires

--To empower you to reach the culture -- To empower you to have authority over the things that keep are keeping people bound -- God desires you to be a source of light to those around you in darkness.

Believers Are Recivers

-- Believers are receivers of blessings -- The more you believe the more you'll be blessed (not physical things) -- Believing makes what was impossible possible.

JESUS fills US with power to change the CULTURE

God has given you power to change the world around you but it can only be

accessed in prayer

-- Gods power is not over somethings but all things

Prayer points:

  1. Help me to see you daily in prayer
  2. Fill me with boldness to share the gospel with the Godless --
